One really different thing about SNL in the 70s is they’ll occasionally show something really beautiful or sweet or thought provoking or even sad, like Don’t Look Back in Anger or that Shelley Duvall and Dan Aykroyd sketch where Dan’s character is like…emotionally abusive to her character. I don’t know, like, I just saw La Dolce Gilda for the first time and it made me feel really warm and smile and it also made me think, and they don’t do that kind of thing anymore.
YES i think what snl lacks now is SUBSTANCE like meaningful shit like
you don’t see cast members performing mozart anymore, you know? or like john and sissy’s newlywed sketch? i dunno its like they set snl up with all this potential and im just kind of disappointed
